The Big Party was hosted by Rock Hudson and sponsored by Revlon. This was one of the few Meredith Wilson hit songs which did not originate in a Broadway Musical show (he's best known for The Music Man). The song was the theme for the radio show The Big Show, hosted by Talulah Bankhead. The Big Party was the TV expression of that popular show.
