When You Wish Upon A Star (from the 1940 film Pinnochio), music by Leigh Harline with lyrics by Ned Washington

Original Air Dates: 1954 - 1961 (ABC)

When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you

If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do

Fate is kind
She brings to those to love
The sweet fulfillment of
Their secret longing

Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true.

The version used during season one was from the movie, which was arranged and orchestrated by Paul Smith, Ed Plumb, Frederick Stark & Charles Wolcott. It was sung by Cliff Edwards (who was the voice of Jiminy Cricket). After the first year other versions were used and as long as Walt Disney Productions had a show on Sunday evening, the music has been used occasionally as part of different medleys.
