Dragnet "Ladies and gentlemen, the story you're about to hear is true. Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent."
Voice-over read by George Fenneman (from Groucho Marx's You Bet Your Life fame) from 1952 to 1959 (and on radio 1949-1957). Read by Hal Gibney from 1967 to 1970
The instrumental theme charted twice in 1953 - at #7 and #9. The first version was by the Ray Anthony Orchestra. Ray Anthony was a bandleader who led the U.S. Army Band during WWII. He formed his own band in 1946 and had a TV series in the 1950s. The second version was by the Ted Heath Orchestra.
Dragnet 2003 "The story you are about to see is inspired by true events. The names have been changed to protect the innocent." Thanks again Bill V. |
