The Guns of Will Sonnett

Original Air Dates: 1967- 1969 (ABC)

VOICE-OVER

(Spoken by Walter Brennan)

We searched for a man named Jim Sonnett.
And the legends folks tell may be true;
Most call him gunman and killer.
He’s my son, who I hardly knew.

I raised Jim’s boy from the cradle,
'Till the day he said to me, "I have to go find my father."
And I reckon that’s how it should be.

So we ride, Jim’s boy and me.

This is one of the darker westerns produced. It was only a half-hour show and even more moralistic than most westerns - especially of the late sixties. It was created by Aaron Spelling, who would go on to create such critical gems as Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Beverly Hills 90201, and 7th Heaven.

Walter Brennan's "catch-phrase" for the series was:"No brag - Just fact."  Just thought you'd like to know.  Brennan also starred in the Real McCoys, a considerably lighter show.
