I Love Lucy

by Harold Adamson & Eliot Daniel

Original Air Dates: 1951 - 1961 (CBS)

Locations: New York City, New York (early years), Hollywood, California (later years)

There’s a certain couple that I know.
They’re strictly lovebirds,
A pair of turtle dove birds.
He’s a guy who wants the world to know.
So ev’ry day You’ll hear him say
I Love Lucy and she loves me,

We’re as happy as two can be,
Sometimes we quarrel but then again
How we love making up again.

Lucy kisses like no one can,
She’s my missus and I’m her man;
And life is heaven you see
Cause I Love Lucy
Yes I Love Lucy and Lucy loves me.

These lyrics were never sung during the introduction to the show. There was one show, that I'm aware of, that they appeared in: "Lucy's Last Birthday".

A modern version of the theme - Disco Lucy - was released in 1977 and charted as high as #24. The group who released it was the Wilton Place Street Band, a collection of studio musicians from L.A. This cover of a famous theme proves just how sad the Disco scene got.
