Who is the tall, dark stranger there? Maverick is the name. Ridin’ the trail to who knows where, Luck is his companion. Gamblin’ is his game.
Smooth as the handle on a gun. Maverick is the name. Wild as the wind in Oregon, Blowin’ up a canyon, easier to tame.
Riverboat, ring your bell. Fare thee well, Annabel. Luck is the lady that he loves the best. Natchez to New Orleans. Livin' on jacks and queens Maverick is a legend of the west.

Too many dusty trail towns Too few and far between Tired saloons and sawdust-covered floors Too many one-more-showdowns And aces over queens Winning's just a way of keepin' score.
My old Pappy always told me Your fate is in your hands Stand pat or draw - it's yours to choose Luck don't have a thing to do With how you play the game Maverick didn't come here to loose. Maverick didn't come here to loose. Maverick didn't come here to loose.
One of the few TV themes featuring a jews harp! One of my favorite instruments. It also was a good show that just didn't make it.

One of the more original westerns on TV, Maverick, which was best remembered for James Garner as Bret Maverick, actually featured relatively few shows where he was the star. Early on in the first year of production, the show was behind schedule. A second production team was assembled and Jack Kelly was introduced to viewers as Bret's brother Bart. Bart appeared in about one third of the first season episodes. The next couple years saw Bret and Bart share the shows equally, and occasionally appeared in episodes together. James Garner left the series after the 1960-1961 season and Jack Kelly stared in nearly all of the last season's episodes. From 1960-1962 Roger Moore was occasionally featured as Bret & Bart's English cousin, Beau and in the last season, Robert Colbert was featured as brother Brent. |
