Sesame Street

Sunny Day and various other songs by Stone, Hart & Joe Raposo

Original Air Dates: 1969 -present (NET/PBS)

Sunny Day - theme

Sunny day - Sweepin’ the clouds away,
On my way to where the air is sweet.
Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street.

Come and play, everything’s A-OK
Friendly neighbors there that’s where we meet
Can you tell me how to get
How to get to Sesame Street

It’s a magic carpet ride.  Every door will open wide.
Happy people like you.  Happy people who.

Like a beautiful sunny day sweepin’ the clouds away
On my way to where the air is sweet
Can you tell me how to get,
How to get to Sesame street, how to get to Sesame Street,   How to get to . . .

It's Not Easy Bein' Green

It's not that easy bein' green
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves
When I think it could be nicer being red,
Or yellow or gold-
Or something much more colorful like that.

It's not easy bein' green
It seems you blend in with so many other ordinary things.
And people tend to pass you over
'Cause you're not standing out
Like flashy sparklers in the water or stars in the sky.

But green's the color of Spring.
And green can be cool and friendly-like.
And green can be big like an ocean,
Or important like a mountain,
Or tall like a tree.

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why,
But why wonder, why wonder?
I am green and it'll do fine,
It's beautiful!
And I think it's what I want to be.

Rubber Ducky

Rubber Ducky, you're the one.
You make bath time lots of fun
Rubber Ducky, I'm awfully fond of you.
Rubber Ducky, joys of joys
When I squeak you, you make noise
Rubber Ducky, you're my very best friend, it's true!

Everyday when I make my way to the tubby
I find a little fella who' cute, yellow, and chubby.
(rub-a-dub-a-dubby)

Rubber Ducky you're so fine
And I'm lucky that you're mine
Rubber Ducky, I'm awfully fond of you.

Everyday when I make my way to the tubby
I find a little fella who's cute, yellow, and chubby.
(rub-a-dub-a-dubby)

Rubber Ducky, you're so fine
And I'm glad that you're mine
Rubber Ducky I'm awfully fond of...
Rubber Ducky I'd like a whole pond of . . .
Rubber Ducky I'm awfully fond of you.

 C is for Cookie

C is for cookie, that's good enough for me (3X)
Oh, cookie, cookie, cookie starts with C

C is for cookie, that's good enough for me (4X)
Oh, cookie, cookie, cookie starts with C

C is for cookie, that's good enough for me, yeah!
C is for cookie, that's good enough for me (2X)
C is for cookie, that's good enough for me, yeah!
C is for cookie, that's good enough for me, oh boy!
C is for cookie, that's good enough for me
Um-um-um-um-um-um-um-um-um-um-um-um-um . . .

Eatin' Cookie

sung by Cookie Monster
to the tune of "Makin' Whoopee"

(Cookie Monster arrives on a winter scene, a snow-covered hill behind him, a kid building a snowman, another kid runs in, slips and falls on the ice)

In the winter, there lots of snow
It very chilly, but don't you know
It another season, another reason
For eatin' cookie

(he devours some cookies from the box in his hands, then leaves to arrive on a rainy spring scene, as kids run up the hill)

In the springtime, the birdies sing
The flowers bloom, and one more thing
It another season, another reason
For eatin' cookie

(more cookies eaten)

Me eat them every season
Me eat them day or night
When it come to cookie
Me got healthy appetite

(now he arrives at a summer scene, sun shining, a beach umbrella up, a kid with sunglasses on lies on a towel catching some rays, a girl eating an ice cream cone, a boy flying a kite)

In the summer, it very hot
Me go to the beach, me sweat a lot
It another season, another reason
For eatin' cookie

(he munches more cookies and leaves the scene, arriving on an autumn one, a man raking up some of the fallen leaves)

In the fall, the leaves turn brown
The wind it blows, the leaves fall down
It another season, another reason
For eatin' cookie

(more cookies eaten, then the screen changes to 4 Cookie Monsters, one in each season)

Winter: So if it's winter . . .
Spring: Spring!
Summer: Summer!
Fall: Or fall!
Winter: It don't matter!
Spring: Hey, anytime at all!
Summer: It a season, me got a reason
Fall: For eatin' cookie!
Winter: All together now!
All: It a season . . .
Spring: Oh yeah!
All: Me got a reason . . .
Summer: Coming home!
All: For eatin' cookie!

(all 4 Cookie Monsters devour what's left of their cookie boxes ... including the boxes)
Fall: Me love the outdoors!

Sing

Written by Joe Raposo

Sing
Sing a song
Sing out loud
Sing out strong
Sing of good things, not bad
Sing of happy, not sad

Sing
Sing a song
Make it simple
To last your whole life long
Don't worry that it's not good enough
For anyone else to hear
Sing
Sing a song

La la la la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la

Sing
Sing a song
Sing out loud
Sing out strong
Sing of good things, not bad
Sing of happy, not sad

Sing

Make it simple
To last your whole life long
Don't worry that it's not good enough
