Orange County 1880

 

This is a map from 1880 and shows the newly completed rail line from Sanford to Orlando (although it does not clearly show it going all the way to Sanford, even though we know from records that it was started in Sanford and built to Orlando). As can be seen there are only two other rail lines shown by 1880, and at this time, steamboats on the St. Johns and wagons were still the major way people and products traveled.

Jernigan continues to be listed as does Ft. Catlin (Gatlin) even though neither continued to exist by 1880.
