Orange County 1883

This is a map of Orange County in 1883, showing the extension of the rail lines south out of Orlando to Shingle (Kissimmee) and west to Apopka and Lake Apopka. The rail is not connected with the rest of the country, except by steam boat, as all the various rail lines in Central Florida suggest in this map. Each rail head links with the St. John's River and heads to another point, generally the Indian River on the coast or a major lake.
