William enlisted in the Confederate Army as a private on 5/17/1862.

He was assigned to 8th Florida Infantry, Company G.

He was wounded in the head on 5/3/63 at Chancellorville.

He was captured 7/2/63 at Gettysburg.

He was released on oath on 6/10/65 from Fort Delaware Prison.

He was transferred to New York City, and then returned home by way of Palatka, FL on 7/2/65
