The Ivey Family was one of the earliest to call Central Florida home. The 1860 U.S. Census of Orange County lists fourteen Iveys with Robert Ivey Sr. and his wife Priscilla Ivey the heads of the family. Both were born in Georgia, but all of their children were born in Florida. The family moved from northern Florida around the year 1956. As of 1861 they has not received a land grant, but since they were listed as farmers in the census, they probably did not own land of any significance. Two members of the family in Orange Co. served in the CSA Army during the Civil War: Robert L. Ivey served as a private in the 9th FL Infantry Co. B from May 17, 1862 to February 21, 1864.
The 1880 U.S. Census of Orange County lists eighteen Iveys in three families. Other parts of the family moved to different parts of Florida. |
