The central memorial in the Spanish-American War section The memorial honors the men and women who served in the U.S. armed forces during the conflict that made the U.S. a world power for the first time. It was an important war for Florida in that not only was the Tampa area the main staging point for fighting in Cuba and Puerto Rico, but Florida supplied the military with most of its beef. |
